Pattaya is known for its sex tourism, starring you shameless in your face and making it absolutely clear that prostitution is Thailand's present answer to poverty. However if you choose to stay in Jomtien, Bangsaray or Naklua it is not quite so much in your face as in Pattaya city.
Jomtien, south of Pattaya, is popular among tourists, with its endless stretches of beaches and a more quiet bar and night life scene. In Jomtien you will also find a large group of expats.
Bangsaray is placed south of Jomtien. Once it was a small fishing village, and it still has many fishing boats and seafood restuarants, it is however gradually growing into a small town as it has become so popular with tourists and expats.
Naklua, north of Pattaya, makes a great alternative for families with its small intimate beaches, including Wong Amat and Naklua Beach.
Bright light and nightlife. This is where you can combine an active nightlife with shopping, beaches and everything your tourist-heart could possibly desire. Pataya is Thailands "Torremolinos".
