life....
Whether you are a foreign resident or a
tourist with an agenda to explore Andalusia,
Morocco or Gibraltar from the Eastern Costa
del Sol - To-day you can book your
sightseeing online with pick-ups from Torrox
and Nerja...
Mixing tourists and expats for a day trip is a
glorious constellation; expats dying to hear
a little news from "the old country" can get
fresh supply from holiday makers, and
tourist can benefit from the local knowledge
of the expats, and get a few tip they cannot
read about in the tourist guide - nor pick up
on a weeks vacation.
All good stuff!
The area provides an endless amount of
sights and attractions Exploring the local
tapas bars and other culinary attractions is
well worth doing: it taste delicious and
getting about makes you realize; that you
have arrived at a very international stretch
of coast that counts more than sixty
different nationalities.
If you are on holiday or you have
accomplished a goal of moving your entire
life to the coast by Torrox or Nerja - enjoying
"the Best Climate in Europe" can be
intoxicating for a while. However life moves
on even on the Costa and after getting used
to your new Spanish home or settling into
your accommodation you might start to feel
an urge to dig deeper into your new
neighborhood and surroundings.
Nerja's number one tourist sight is the
ancient Nerja Caves with wall paintings
dating from the Paleolithic and
post-Paleolithic periods. It contains a
fascinating array of stalactites and
stalagmites and all through summer you can
sit in on both international concerts and
ballets. It is an unique experience to be
entertained in the unusual atmospheric
Nerja caves.
Visiting the mountainous outback with
natural parks & small white-washed pueblos
is something you just have to do. This is
where history and present days merge right
in front of your eyes. Black clothed elder
women are selling avocados and other
vegetables from plastic boxes lined up
outside their houses while young senoritas
in blue jeans are walking and taking -
rapidly - with their mobiles pressed against
their ears as they pass the streets.
If you are keeping to the main roads you will
be okay in an ordinary car, however some
parts of the natural parks and the mountain
roads requires a 4-wheeler. If you don't feel
like driving in the mountains you can book a
jeep safari tour of the outback.
Alhambra Palace in Granada, is only an
hours drive away. The Alhambra is
composed of three parts: the Royal Palace,
the Gardens of Generalife and the fortress
of Alcazaba. The Royal Palace is the most
famous; it consists of the Mexuar - enclosing
the striking Golden Room - where the
sultans conducted every day business. The
inspiration for the gardens of Generalife is
supposed to be the Koranic description of
Paradise.
In general exploring and sightseeing are not
only intended for tourists. If you are an
English speaking resident in the Nerja /
Torrox area you can book a coach trip to
Ronda, an ancient Andalusian town with old
Arabic houses, go skiing in Sierra Nevada or
shopping in Gibraltar accompanied by an
English speaking guide. You can even pour
down a Spanish sized drink with your friends
as you do not have to drive. You will be
picked up from Nerja or Torrox in an air
conditioned coach.
So let your hair down and indulge in
Andalusia and the Tours From Nerja & Torrox.
