Sofia - The Capital City.

Visit Sofia - Bulgaria's most obvious urban
attraction and the capital of this East European
country. Sofia's centre was laid out by successive
regimes as an expression of political power; and
the second city Plovdiv, home to what is arguably
the finest collection of nineteenth-century
architecture in the Balkans.

Both are increasingly cosmopolitan places, offering
a range of street cafés and nightlife opportunities
in short supply elsewhere in the country. They
each form important cultural centres, being well
endowed with museums and galleries, and are
good bases from which to visit the rest of the
interior.
The cheapest way to get there is most likely by
flight but if you have the time to go by train... it is
a great adventure - as you see a lot on your way.

The airport is located 10km (6 miles) east of
Sofia.

Transfer Between Terminals
A free shuttle takes travellers between the
two passenger terminals.

Driving Directions
Starting from Orlov Most, the bridge at the
centre point of the city, drive towards the
Tsarigradsko Shose boulevard and then follow
signs first to Christopher Columbus boulevard
and then to the airport.
