I finished school after ten years - convinced I wasn't
really capable of taking higher education. So I worked
for a period of years, which was quite all right until I
started feeling like I was in a treadmill with no chance of
ever escaping!
I became aware that I was "wasting" roughly 10 hours a
day accomplishing something I didn't particularly enjoyed
and it just about covered my very humble living
expenses. I didn't make sufficient funds to save up for a
better place to live, seeing the world didn't even enter
my budget and the only plan to get out of my
"life-time-sentence" appeared to be playing the lotto. An
option I must admit I didn't put to much hope into.
Starved as I was for making time for something that
genuinely intrigued me I started browsing books about
human behavior . Discussing what I was reading with
friends and colleagues soon led to somebody remarking
"why don't you sign up for a Diploma Course in
Psychology "?
A Diploma Course in Psychology? I wasn't conscious that
I could - but I did, and I did very well. It didn't feel
anything like my past school encounter, it felt like I was
just doing something I enjoyed to do - exploring an
interest and multiplying my practical knowledge on the
subject, and furthermore getting an actual qualification.
Not to shabby ! Not bad at all!
I achieved a brand new viewpoint on education. I wasn't
studying on account of I had to or because I wanted to
make an impression on the teacher. I was doing it for
me! I was in control , and I enjoyed it. It made all the
difference!
I didn't call it a day with that one course. I finished a full
A-level and then went on with further schooling. Actually
I have never stopped reading up on new skills.
With the digital era came online distance learning and
tore down borders in several ways. Now you can study
in your own time and in the comfort of your own
premises .

One of the most excellent things I have ever gone
