Enjoy Golf In Southern Spain

During the last decades, Mijas Golf Resort has
developed into one of the most popular golf
facilities in Europe, famous for the
outstanding condition of their courses and
the easy going atmosphere and excellent
service provided to the guests.
The Mijas Golf Resort is situated just a 30
minute drive from San Juan airport. Take the
Fuengirola Coin turn off from the motorway
and follow the road named Camino Viejo de
Coin. The course is about 3 and a half
kilometers from the highway.

Mijas Golf Resort has made a great effort to
answer the needs of its many golfers who
wants to play golf in Malaga on the Costa del
Sol, and to that end, the course comes with
all facilities. There is a practice area, buggy
hire, manual and electric trolleys, putting
green, places to get a drink and a bite to eat,
shop, changing rooms, bathing facilities and
parking facilities. Furthermore, running
throughout the grounds, there are places to
buy water and other drinks plus toilets. There
is furthermore the choice to participate in golf
technique classes.

Mijas Golf Resort offers two Golf Courses:

Los Olivos created in 1983/84 & Los Lagos
founded in 1976. Both courses are designed
by Robert Trent Senior. The main thing that
distinguishes Los Olivos from Los Lagos is the
amount of trees - hence the name - and its
smaller size, as well as fewer water hazards.
The greens are smaller, undulating and well
defended. Even though both are created by
the same designer, there is no doubt there
are interesting differences between the two
courses: if Los Lagos are based on
challenges of water and sand, Los Olivos is
strategic narrow tree lined fairways and
elevated greens. Generally the course caters
for the precision golfer rather than the big
hitter.

Los Lagos is a ground course with wide
fairways and quite a few trees hazards, but
is defended by many bunkers and 9 water
areas, from which the course gets its name
and which easily trap the ball. It is a course
with soft movement and large greens. It
could be said that the American designer
intended to present a course especially for
beginners, but at the same time, it can
present a challenge for the best players. One
of "Los Lagos" most characteristic and
demanding holes is the par 5 thirteenth.
Seen from elevated tees it looks deceptively
easy but at the approach to the green there
is water left and right, also beware of the
incline as even a good shot is in danger of
rolling off the green into the water. The 5th a
571 meter monster, is also "interesting". The
course is nearly free of rough and is almost
flat except for a insignificant incline up the
18th hole.

There is an amazing selection of dining
possibilities and bars within the golf resort,
and the nearby town of Fuengirola also offers
a range of restaurants, along with a cinema
and various shops.

The atmospheric white village of Mijas,
popular for its donkey-drawn taxis, is placed
high atop the mountains with breathtaking
views of the Mediterranean coastline and
several municipalities of the Costa del Sol
below. Within just a ten minute drive lies
some of the best blue flag golden beaches
you can imagine, offering you the ideal
setting for peace and relaxation.

When you are not playing there is no need to
be bored as the area offers more sightseeing
than you can possibly desire & your Mijas Golf
Villa offer pleasurable relaxation by the pool.
