London Attractions & The London
Pass
Seeing London in a few days is a mammoth task
and hardly doable, however choosing a few
London attractions is enjoyable and gives you
the right balance between sightseeing and
soaking in the atmosphere of this fantastic city.
Lets have an appetizer with four attractions from
the top ten London attraction list (2011).
Thames River Boat Cruise.
There is several reasons why a Thames River
Boat Cruise should be at the top of your
to-do-list while in London.
First of all it is one of the best ways to see
London either from the panoramic windows at
the lower saloons or from the upper deck. From
this all-weather boat you will have a good view
to different attractions on your way through the
very heart of London. Amongst others you will
pass the Tower of London, Tower Bridge, St
Paul's Cathedral, Shakespeare's Globe and the
Tate Modern. You will furthermore have a good
view to Houses of Parliament, Westminster
Abbey and Big Ben.
Secondly if you buy the London Pass you will get
the Thames River Boat Cruise for free (worth
13GBP) plus free hop on hop off facility to the
boat all day, so you can use it as transport to the
great attractions on the route.
You can catch the boat from Westminster Pier,
London Eye Pier, Tower Hill Pier & Greenwich Pier
every day. The boat has wheelchair access.
Tower of London
The ticket to the Tower of London is 18GBP but
again you will have free access with the London
Pass plus fast track entry to avoid the long lines
and 20% discount at the New Armouries Cafe.
The Tower of London is without doubt one of the
most famous and well known fortresses in the
world. With more than 900 years of history since
it was constructed by William the Conqueror, and
different functions over the years as a prison, a
royal palace, an armoury and a Zoo, this
attraction has a lot on display including her
majesty's Crown Jewels.
The Tower of London is wheelchair accessible
and besides from Christmas it is open all year
round every day.
Westminster Abbey
If you were among the millions worldwide that
recently watched the Royal Wedding in
Westminster Abbey between Prince William and
Kate Middleton, you might want to view this
stunning gothic church a little closer, that
furthermore has been the nations Coronation
church since the crowning of William the
Conqueror in 1066.
The church is closed on Sundays and during
ceremonial events and services, but are normally
open to the public from Monday to Friday from
9.30 to 16.30 and Saturdays from 9.30 to 14.30.
With the London Pass you will save the 16GBP
admission fee.
The London Bridge Experience
The London Bridge Experience comes in two
parts, and the admission fee is 23GBP. It has
won the Sreamie award as the Best Year Round
Scare. With real actors and special effects you can
experience the history of the bridge including
Druids,
Victorians, Vikings, Romans and some medieval
characters.
The second part of the experience, that is if you
have the
stomach for it is the Tombs. It is said to be a
terrifying
adventure, so do you think you have the guts?
These 4 extremely popular London Attractions
are all on the River Thames Boat Cruise route
and they would cost you 70GBP plus transport
(or some walking), but with the London Pass
they are all free and so is the transport.
It is worth taking into consideration when
planning some days in London.
